Tips On How To Fix Door Lock Handle

Door locks are used for security purposes and for locking or unlocking doors. Locks are often placed at the top part of a door or on the handle. The use of door locks is typically, when not in use, doors that have been closed and secured with a lock. This will be used as an additional security measure to prevent someone from entering your property without permission. How Do You Fix A Handle on A Door?

The first step in fixing a handle on a door is to remove the door from the level and make sure to keep it stable while doing so. Drilling off the hinge pin on one side and remove the door. Once removed, you are going to need to check for broken or cracked parts other wise you will have to replace them. Take a flat head screwdriver or a chisel and tap around the handle until it is loose enough for you to pull out of its socket. You will notice that there are two sets of screws that hold the lock mechanism inside of its housing, so make sure not to lose any pieces. These screws will be located inside of the door handle and not in the actual lock mechanism.

How Do You Fix A Stuck Door Knob Lock?

There are many ways to fix a door knob that is stuck in place. If the door knob is sliding in then try opening and closing the door with it over and over as often as you can. If you still cannot get it to work, then you should turn off the electricity to the breaker box. The best way would be to find out how many pulls each side of the lock has been made for. There should be two screws on each side for adjusting, if there are three then that means each has a pull and a half of a turn, four turns per lock and so on.

If the key is being unable to turn in the lock or if you are using a key and it won’t turn and open the lock, then you might want to consider lubricating the lock. There are many ways that you can do so. One of them would be to use WD 40 as a spray on it. If that does not work, then try using graphite powder, or a grease on it. It will allow for more movement in between the tumblers and in between all of the parts of your door lock. See if this works before having to replace it entirely.

To fix a lock that is stripped out of its housing, you are going to have to use another bolt or screw to hold it in place then grind the stripped part where it needs to be. Take your drill and secure the bolt or screw into place. Use a grinding stone and start grinding until it is snug inside of its housing.
