1.Install the Latch
Start by installing the latch. If you are installing a new door handle with a lock, you will need to install the latch first. The installation process will vary slightly depending on the type of door handle you are using.
To install a mortise latch, start by drilling a hole in the
doorjamb for the faceplate. Next, insert the latch into the hole and secure it
with screws. Finally, attach the faceplate to the doorjamb and secure
it with screws.
To install a surface-mounted latch, start by attaching the
strike plate to the doorjamb. Next, insert the latch into the strike plate’s hole and secure it with screws. Finally, attach the faceplate
to the door and secure it with screws.

2.Install the Outside Handle
Begin by attaching the outside handle to the door. There are typically two screws that hold it in place. Use your screwdriver to loosen or tighten these screws until the handle is snug against the door. Next, you will attach the locking mechanism. This is usually done with four screws. Again, use your screwdriver to tighten or loosen these screws until the mechanism is secure.
Now, you will need to drill a hole in the door for the outside handle’s locking rod. The size of the hole will depend on the size of the locking mechanism. Once you have drilled the hole, insert the locking rod and then screw it into place.
3.Install the Inside Handle
The inside handle is the part of the door handle used to open and close the door from the inside. It is usually made of metal or plastic and is attached to the door with screws. In most cases, the inside handle is also used to operate the door lock.
To install an inside door handle with a lock:
a.Remove the old handle and any screws holding it in place.
b.Line up the new handle with the holes in the door and use screws to attach it.
c.Use screws that are long enough to reach through the thickness of the door.
Next, insert the locking mechanism into the hole in the door. It should fit snugly so that it doesn’t move around when you’re trying to operate the lock.
Finally, reattach the inside handle to the door. Make sure that it is securely fastened so that it doesn’t come loose and cause the door to become difficult to open or close.
4.Install the Deadbolt
To install the deadbolt, use a drill to make two holes in the door. One hole should be for the doorknob and the other for the deadbolt. Finally, insert the deadbolt into the hole and screw it into place. The
doorknob can then be attached to the other hole.

5.Install the Strike Plates
Most doors will have a hole in the door frame for the strike plate. If your door does not have a hole, you will need to drill one. The strike plate needs to be positioned so that when the door is closed, the bolt lines up with the hole in the strike plate. Use a drill slightly smaller than the screws with the strike plate. Drill pilot holes into the door frame, and then screw in the strike plate. Repeat this process on the other side of the door.
If your strike plates do not line up with the holes in your door frames, you may need to chisel out some of the material around the hole so that the strike plate fits snugly. Use a hammer and a chisel to remove small amounts of material at a time until the strike plate fits. Test the fit of the strike plate often, so you do not remove too much material.
